Contemporary Overseas Chinese Literature: Theory and Practice

From the 15th-18th of May 2011, The University of Sydney hosted the international academic conference Contemporary Overseas Chinese Literature: Theory and Practice.
The conference was jointly organised by the School of Languages and Cultures at the Faculty of Arts, the China Studies Centre of the University of Sydney and the Chinese Department of Fudan University. It was sponsored by the University of Sydney Confucius Institute.
Leading academics from China, the United States, Germany, Japan and Malaysia gathered to discuss New Chinese Immigrant Literature in both Chinese and English in the context of global Chinese literature.
There were also two public lectures as part of the conference by Professor Chen Sihe of Fudan University and Professor Tang Xiaobing of the University of Michigan.
Special thanks goes to Professor Gao Yuanbao, Chinese Director at the University of Sydney Confucius Institute and Visiting Scholar from Fudan University, who was the Conference Chair and driving force behind the conference.
