The Price of War Exhibition
26 July 2012
What is the price of war?
Our peaceful land has largely escaped the scourge of modern warfare. But nine Australian Chinese artists whose families have known another history want to send to all Australians a searing and urgent message.
On 26 July, the Confucius Institute will launch The Price of War arts exhibition, in partnership with the Chinalink Gallery. The exhibition aims to promote cultural tolerance and world peace. It will showcase recent work of nine prominent Australian Chinese artists, including three Archibald Prize finalists Adam Chang, Shen Jiawei, Chen Zhong and prominent international artists Guan Wei, Shen Shaomin, Zhou Xiaoping. The exhibition can be seen at Chinalink Gallery in Redfern from 27 July to 26 August.
On Saturday 28 July 2pm, the exhibition organisers will hold a public forum: "Conversation With Artists". Artists Guan Wei, Shen Jiawei, Adam Chang, Tianli Zu, Amu Fu and Daniel Chang will discuss their work with boththe curator and the audience.
