Public Lecture: Su Tong: China's Faulkner in Conversation

17 May 2010

The University of Sydney Confucius Institute will hold a public lecture on Monday 17 May by award-winning contemporary Chinese novelist Su Tong, during his visit to Sydney as a guest of the Sydney Writers' Festival 2010.

Su Tong is one of the best-selling authors in China and has produced hundreds of short stories and novels, with his work published in several languages. He is perhaps best known for his work 'Wives and Concubines' that was adapted into the prize-winning film 'Raise the Red Lantern' by director Zhang Yimou. Widely regarded for his controversial and provocative writing style, he was awarded the Man Asian Literary Prize in 2009 for his work 'The Boat to Redemption'.

This event is supported by the Sydney Writers' Festival.
