Enjoy an enchanting evening with best loved Chinese folk and art songs by Australian Chinese soprano Shu-Cheen Yu, co-presented by the Confucius Institute and the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. Born in China, Shu-Cheen Yu began her career in Chinese traditional opera. Before migrating to Australia in 1987, Shu-Cheen was one of China's best folk singers. She released five successful albums. Her career in Australia has been equally impressive. She won international awards to New York, London and Vienna. Shu-Cheen has performed with Opera Australia and most State opera companies and orchestras. She has three best-selling CDs on ABC Classics: Lotus Moon, Willow Spirit Song and Serenade. Today she is widely regarded as an extraditionary ambassador for China and Australia.

In this Gala concert, Shu-Cheen will sing over ten most loved Chinese folk and art songs, accompanied by the pianist Stephen Mould, the Senior Lecturer in Operatic Studies at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music.
