DASUS AGM and Alumni Cocktail

10 July 2011

The Dental Alumni Society of The University of Sydney (DASUS) held its annual general meeting on Thursday June 16 where members of the Society's committee were elected.

Following this AGM members of the DASUS Committee, alumni of the Faculty and their guests were invited to join together over cocktails to welcome our most recent graduates and alumni and congratulate incoming nominees to the committee.

The Dean welcomed all guests and touched on the incoming Doctor of Dental Medicine degree, and the progress of the Faculty's research, teaching and administrative strategies. Professor Peck also thanked Ms Tracey Beck, Director, Alumni Relations and Events and Dr Douglas Stewart, DASUS President, for their efforts over the past year and heralded a new era of Alumni activity with the appointment of Mrs Denise Fischer as the Faculty's Alumni Officer.

The cocktail reception was a marked success with not only a cross-section of all our alumni but also the arrival of the recent graduates, led by Dr Meredith Owen who accepted the Vice-Presidency of DASUS. Also welcomed into the reception were the committee members of the student society, the Sydney University Dental Association, in the spirit of getting to know colleagues-to-be, forming alliances and founding new friendships and eventual mentors.

With over 4000 Sydney graduates it is hoped to build bridges, create new networks and make it easier for colleagues to keep in touch through the Alumni Association.

In the first instance all University of Sydney alumni are invited to spread the word to their acquaintances over the world by writing to Denise on to make known their preferred means of communication and update contact details.
