The 18th ICDMFR Congress Hiroshima May 2011

The 18th International Congress of Dento-Maxillo-Facial Radiology (ICDMFR) Congress in Hiroshima "Peace and Radiation" was attended by three Australian representatives, Mr Bruce Waters (WCOH), Dr Antonia Scott and Dr Malcolm Coombs (Faculty of Dentistry). Dr Coombs is the Australasian Regional Director of the IADMFR board and senior member of the IADMFR Education Committee

Professor Keiji Tanimoto, Chairman of the organizing committee of the 18th ICDMFR and

Professor of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology, Hiroshima Dental School, organised a most interesting scientific program and provided wonderful Japanese hospitality at the social functions which included taking all the delegates by ferry to the beautiful Miyajima Island (the Shrine Island) for the group photo and some relaxing walking, despite the rain.

Due to the recent earthquake and radiation problems in Japan about eighty delegates either cancelled of failed to arrive so papers were cancelled.

Antonia Scott presented a paper "Do dentists see all the pathology present on Panoramic Radiographs or only what they expect to see?" A joint poster prepared for the 2010 Faculty Research day by Ksenia Fedorova and Evan Stacy under the supervision of Drs Coombs and Scott was also presented at the conference.
