2nd Asian Academic Congress for Temporomandibular Joint

3 August 2011

The Faculty was very well represented at the recent 2nd Asian Academic Congress for Temporomandibular Joint meeting held in Hiroshima, Japan, on the 23rd July 2011.

Invited keynote speaker was Professor Chris Peck who presented `An Update on the Biopsychosocial Concepts of Temporomandibular Disorders', to an enthusiastic audience of specialists in this field.

Also attending and presenting two posters in conjunction with Ichiro Minami was Alex Wirianski, our Endeavour awardee, who recently disrupted his year-long research project in Sendai due to the recent tragic events in that region.

They were joined by Dr Rahena Akhter who was awarded the best poster award for her research presentation titled " Effect of Jaw Muscle Pain on Jaw Movement and Jaw Muscle Activity in Catastrophizers ".

Please join the Dean in offering hearty congratulations to Dr Akhter, our Postdoctoral Research Fellow, whose success reflects bright talent and research excellence in the Faculty.
