Applications are closing soon for some of our scholarships available across our Education and Social Work degree programs.

Get your application in before 28 April 2017 for the following opportunities:

Lee Moskal Memorial Grant Scholarship for 2017

If you’re a Bachelor of Social Work or Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Social Work student, you can lodge your application for this scholarship designed to foster resilience and empathy practices in the community.

The scholarship was established to continue the work and aspirations of Lee Andrew Moskal.

Lee experienced enormous challenges due to a mental health condition since about 15, which he proved he could overcome through devising his own resilience regime, which brought about success in his life, which was very suddenly cut short in
by bacterial meningitis.

Lee wanted to commence studies into Social Work at the University of Sydney and go on to help others and remove stigma that people with mental health conditions, experience of resilience and overcoming stigma.

Eligibility:

  • Bachelor Social Work - currently enrolled in year 3 and year 4
  • Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor Social Work- currently enrolled in year 4

• Two (2) referee reports

ZONTA Club Sydney East Inc. Scholarship for 2017

If you’re a female mature age student, consider this excellent opportunity.

The scholarship aims to support you if you’re undertaking an academic program as part of a career change, wish to complete professional experience internships or a field education placement or intend to pursue a research project.

Eligibility:

  • Female undergraduate or postgraduate mature student enrolled in an Education or Social degree

Application:

• Previous academic record; 

• One page personal statement
• A recent copy of a professional experience report or field education placement report
• Two (2) referee reports

Teachers’ Guild of NSW Scholarship for 2017

If you’re a Master of Teaching student, then this scholarship is available to you.

The Faculty of Education and Social Work will forward to the Teachers' Guild of NSW up to three applications for this Scholarship. The Teachers' Guild shall determine a winner.

If you’re the successful recipient of this Scholarship, you will be invited to attend the Annual Teachers' Guild Dinner to be held in September 2017 where this Scholarship will be awarded.

Eligibility:

You must show evidence, through coursework and other achievements of your:

  • professional approach and commitment to a career in teaching
  • potential to make a significant contribution to the profession
  • understanding of contemporary issues facing the profession
  • knowledge of schools’ systems and the education community
  • ability to articulate a coherent philosophy of teaching
  • understanding of human learning and its relation to teaching approaches.
