Beijing Normal University's Master of Social Work student visit

Alumna and benefactor, The Honourable Helen Sham-Ho (BA'67, DipSW'67) and the Faculty's Rosina Gallace, hosted a group of Master of Social Work students and guests from Beijing Normal University on an excursion to Manly on Friday 5 August.

The students and guests in attendance were: Siqin Huang, Siming Jia, Yue Li, Jina Li, Yan Liu, KangKang Mao, Yanan Sun, SiQiang Xie, MingYue Yin, Yuejiao Zhang, Yeqi Wang (current EDSW student), and Dr BinLi Chen, Department of sociology from Peking University, China.

The day began on campus with the students attending a lecture on 'Anti-Oppressive Practice and other social work theories' with Professor Donna Baines, Chair of Social Work and Convenor of Social Work and Policy Studies, followed by a lecture on 'Working with people with disabilities' with Dr Margaret Spencer, Lecturer in Social Work and Policy Studies.

At the conclusion of the lectures, the students along with Rosina Gallace travelled to Circular Quay to meet Helen Sham-Ho before boarding the ferry to Manly.

The students were taken on a tour of Manly's main business and commercial area followed by an Australian tradition of fish 'n chips by the beach.

The students then enjoyed some free time to explore Manly before travelling back to their hotel later that afternoon.
