Join us for a free masterclass as we explore social justice social work in the context of neoliberalism and privatisation. We will consider whether anyone is doing critical social work, and if it is possible to translate critical theory into everyday practice.

We will pay particular attention to current practice contexts in which social workers are limited by inadequate resources, privatisation and underfunding, and dominated by target measures and performance management practices imported from the private sector.

Drawing on original research from frontline practitioners, the class will identify critical practices that social workers can employ to maintain an ethical stance and pursue professional and personal values of social justice and equity.

When: Wednesday 10 August 2016 6 - 7.30pm

Where: Conference Room Darlington Centre, City Road The University of Sydney

Light refreshments will be provided.
