FHS student claims victory at the Henley Royal Regatta in London

23 July 2012

Faculty of Health Sciences student and Elite Athlete Program (EAP) scholarship holder, Sasha Belonogoff (B.App.Sci. - Ex.Sp.Sci.), and his Australian U23 Quad team members recently claimed victory at the Queen Mother Challenge Cup at the 2012 Henley Royal Regatta in London, England.

The team hit the lead with a sustained push only 50 metres from the line and went on to win by half a length.

The crew of Belonogoff, Ryan Edwards, Jay Ditmarsch and Ben Morley were having their first and final lead up regatta for the World U23 Championships to be held later this month in Trakai, Lithuania.

Sydney Uni's Rowing Director of Coaching Mark Prater was full of praise for his crew saying, "They showed real character to come from a length down with 700 meters to go to take out the win."
