Faculty succeeds in ACC Scholarship

The Faculty of Health Science, in collaboration with the Sydney Medical School has been awarded a prestigious Australian China Council Scholarship.

The grant awarded willassist with thedevelopment and delivery ofajoint research symposium and collaboration discussionsfocussed on the field of sports medicinebetween the University of Sydney and a number of key institutions in Beijing. The joint symposium will aimto establishlong-term sustainable relationships and the identification of mutual research and educational interests. This project is therefore an initiative that is relevant to the ACC Strategic Plan (2008-2011). The success is particularly notable as the University of Sydney submitted one of the only 24 successful applications from a pool of 300.
This joint research symposium will work towards the mission, goals and objectives of the Australia-China Council. Specifically, the research symposium aims to:
- develop and strengthen mutual research interests and expertise in the field of 'education and science' particularly in aspects of sports medicine;
- foster perceptions in China of the Faculty of Health Science, University of Sydney as a prime site for scientifically and educationally advanced knowledge and research;
- foster linkages between the University of Sydney and PUSMI with a view to developing long-term and sustainable education and research linkages and activities; and,
- foster people-to-people relationships resulting in fruitful research and educational relationships.
The Faculty's participation was led by Professor Patrick Brennan, Associate Dean International Research Development.
