Visit to the College of Allied Medical Professions, University of the Philippines Manila

Recently three members of the Faculty of Health Sciences visited the College of Allied Medical Professions, University of the Philippines Manila (UPM-CAMP), to host educational and professional development opportunities for students and staff.

Dr Tricia McCabe(Discipline of Speech Pathology),Dr Andrew Leaver(Discipline of Physiotherapy), andDr Reinie Cordier (Discipline of Occupational Therapy) also met with staff at all levels to discuss teaching practices, curriculum, clinical practice and research productivity. A number of research projects were proposed resulting in plans for future collaborations between both universities in all three disciplines.

Opportunities that were discussed to further galvanize the existing Memorandum of Understanding that exists between both Faculties included:

  • The possibility of applying for an Endeavour Award to provide support to UPM-CAMP to develop and implement PhD opportunities;
  • Exploring a flexible strategy that will facilitate achieving the agreed priorities following the Philippines visit, particularly with regards to PhD supervision.
