Wireless upgrade will remove role-based account wifi access

2 April 2013

We're upgrading the University's wireless network to increase its capacity and reliability. As part of the upgrade, the wireless network will be taken offline on Sunday 7 April and will not be accessible until Monday 8 April.

From Monday, the old usyd and usyd-guest networks will no longer be available and role-based accounts will not be able to sign in to the UniSydney wireless network. If you were using a role-based account to access wifi in the past you will need to contact the ICT Helpdesk for an individual UniKey account. Staff and visitors to the University who require immediate, temporary access should connect to the UniSydney-guest network. Once connected, open a browser and complete the online form to gain temporary log in credentials.

If you've been using a Windows or Mac device to connect to the wireless network, you may need to remove the network from your device in order to connect after 8 April. When you reconnect your device to the UniSydney network you will be prompted to install and accept a security certificate. Ensure the certificate name is auth.wireless.sydney.edu.au before you click Connect.

Instructions are available on the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) website. If you have any questions or experience issues trying to connect please contact the ICT Helpdesk on 9351 6000.
