The Walter Westman Lecture 2013

13 August 2013

"Is it too late to stabilize the global climate?" That was the question 2013's Walter Westman talk attempted to answer. And we had the honour of having Professor John Quiggin, a veritable authority on issues concerning the economy and the environment, deliver that answer.

Professor Quiggin is an Australian economist, a member of the Board of the Climate Change Authority and a Laureate Fellow at the University of Queensland. Currently based at the University of Queensland, John holds the positions of Australian Research Council Professorial Fellow and Federation Fellow, and a Professor in the School of Economics and the School of Political Science and International Studies.

In his talk, he addressed the issues we should be worried about - outlining the perils of the changing global climate and the lack of time we have to fix the mess we have on our hands. So, is it too late? Professor Quiggin, a self-described optimist, says it isn't. You'll just have to listen for yourself to find out why.
