Sydney Law School would like to congratulate The Hon. Justice James Allsop (BA 1974, LLB 1980) on his appointment as Chief Justice of the Federal Court of Australia.

Justice Allsop is to be the fourth person appointed as Chief Justice of the Federal Court since its inception.

He is currently the President of the Court of Appeal, Supreme Court of New South Wales, a position he has held since 2008.
His appointment follows the departune of Justice Patrick Keane who replaces The Hon. Justice John Dyson Heydon QC (BA 1964, LLD 2007) on the bench of The High Court of Australia.

Sydney Law School would like to take this opportunity to also congratulate Justice Heydonon his years of service.
