The Hon. Justice Arthur Emmett appointed to NSW Court of Appeal

Sydney Law School would like to congratulate its Challis Lecturer in Roman Law, The Hon. Justice Arthur Emmett, QC (BA 1964, LLB 1967, LLM 1976, LLD 2009) on his appointment to the NSW Court of Appeal.
A formal ceremony to mark this occasion will be held in Banco Court, on Level 13, at 9.30am on Thursday, 7 March 2013.
Attorney General Greg Smith SC MP will speak on behalf of the New South Wales Bar.
Justice Emmett was appointed as a judge of the Federal Court of Australia in 1997.
He is President of the Copyright Tribunal of Australia, which determines the royalties payable under compulsory licences of copyright material.
He has taught Roman Law at the University of Sydney since 1978 and has been Challis Lecturer in Roman Law since 1990.
