Alumna wins Cambridge International Scholarship

28 September 2012

Sydney Law School would like to congratulate Odette Murray (BA 2005, LLB 2007) on winning a Cambridge International Scholarship to study a PhD in law at Cambridge, commencing in October 2012.

Odette will be undertaking a PhD at the University of Cambridge under the supervision of former Sydney Law School Dean, Professor James Crawford.

She will be specialising in Public International Law, and her research will be focussing on whether and how international law apportions responsibility between states and international organisations in cases of joint wrongdoing, such as joint military operations under UN auspices.

Odette not only secured a Cambridge International Scholarship but a Trinity Hall Research Scholarship as well.

"I would like to extend my special thanks to Professor David Kinley, as my ability to pursue a career in international law is in no small part due to his formidable support and encouragement over many years."

Prior to winning both scholarships, Odette completed a Master of Law in Public International Law at Cambridge.

Odette was part of the Sydney Law School World Champion Jessup Moot Team in 2007 and also coached the Sydney Law School Jessup Team in 2009.

She also worked as a Solicitor in the Major Projects Department at Maurice Blackburn Lawyers, Sydney and more recently with the Office of International Law, International Law and Human Rights Division, Attorney-General's Department, Canberra.
