Sydney Law School would like to congratulate Robert Bromwich, SC (LLM 1993) on his appointment as Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions.

In a news release issued today, Attorney-General Nicola Roxon said, "Mr Bromwich is a distinguished member of the legal community and brings with him a considerable level of knowledge and experience in criminal law.

"Under his leadership, I am confident that the Office of the CDPP will continue to provide the highest quality prosecution services to the Australian community.
"Mr Bromwich has gone full circle, starting as a legal officer in the Office of the CDPP many years ago, he worked his way up through the ranks to In-house Counsel before going to the Private Bar and he now returns as its Director."

Mr Bromwich has 27 years' experience as a legal practitioner.

He was a barrister at the NSW Bar for 11 years before being appointed Senior Counsel in 2009.
During this time, Mr Bromwich has appeared as both prosecution and defence counsel in a number of complex criminal jury trials and appeals, specialising in insider trading, fraud and drug offences.
Mr Bromwich has held a range of roles in private practice and with the Office of the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions, including Senior Assistant Director from 1991-1995 and In-house Counsel from 1995-1997.
