2014 Peter Cameron Sydney Oxford Scholarship Winner Announced

Daniel Ward is the recipient of the 2014 Peter Cameron Sydney Oxford Scholarship.
Daniel graduated with first class honours and the University Medal in Law in 2013. He was also the recipient of the Convocation Medal for that year. Daniel was an outstanding student. As well as excelling in his studies, Daniel was a member of the 2011 Jessup Moot Team, volunteered at the Redfern Legal Centre and also found time to act as President of the Sydney University Symphony Orchestra.
Daniel has most recently been working asan Associate to the Hon James Allsop AO (BA '74, LLB '80), Chief Justice of the Federal Court of Australia. Prior to this Daniel was Tipstaff to Justice Allsop at the NSW Court of Appeal.
The selection committee chaired by the Dean, Professor Joellen Riley was most impressed with Daniel's strong academic background noting that he also won a University Medal in his Arts degree, his excellent academic performance in the Bachelor of Laws and his strong community experience
The Scholarship will support Daniel during his studies in the BCL at Oxford. As part of the Scholarship he has also been offered a place in Exeter College and will receive assistance with airfares from Herbert Smith Freehills.
The Scholarship was established by the Law School and the Cameron family through contributions from the friends and colleagues of the late Peter Cameron to promote further study in law at the completion of a law degree.
