Alumna wins 2014 John Monash Scholarship and Harvard Kennedy School Fellowship

Congratulations to May Samali (BEc&SocSci 2009, LLB 2011) on winning the General Sir John Monash Scholarship for New South Wales and the Gleitsman Leadership Fellowship from the Center for Public Leadership at the Harvard Kennedy School.

May was President of the Sydney University Law Society (SULS) in 2009 and is Deputy CEO of 180 Degrees Consulting.

She is also a member of the University of Sydney's Alumni Council.

She will undertake a Master of Public Policy at Harvard University and will address social enterprises which can contribute to employment and economic growth in New South Wales and Australia.

The General Sir John Monash Scholarships were launched in 2003 and they are now Australia's most prestigious postgraduate scholarships.

The Foundation and Scholarships are proudly supported by the Australian Government, private sector organisations, universities and individuals

The Gleitsman Leadership Fellowships are funded through an endowed gift from the estate of Alan L. Gleitsman.

These fellowships provide significant financial support and a robust cocurricular experience to promising Harvard Kennedy School students interested in social change.

May is the first winner of the General Sir John Monash Scholarship from Sydney Law School since Zellie Wood (BA 2006, LLB 2008) in 2010 and Danielle Malek (BA 1993, LLB 2004) in 2003.
