The husband and wife pair shared double joy recently with Emeritus Professor McCallum, AO selected for a prestigious Henry Viscardi Achievement Award and Professor Crock named in the seventh edition of the Best Lawyers in Australia.
Emeritus Professor McCallum is among 12 global recipients of a Henry Viscardi Achievement Award, which recognize exemplary leaders in the disability community, particularly those who have had a tangible impact on shaping attitudes, raising awareness and improving the quality of life of people with disabilities.
"I am both honoured and humbled to be the recipient of this prestigious award," said Emeritus Professor McCallum.
The awards were developed to honour Dr Henry Viscardi Jr, a leading international advocate for people with disabilities and disability advisor to eight US Presidents. They recognize individual, academia, athletic, community, government, nonprofit, military, corporate, and business leaders who are working to improve the lives of people with disabilities.
US Senator Robert Dole, who co-chaired the selection committee, paid tribute to the awardees, which include Oscar and Golden Globe-winning actress Marlee Matlin and Olympic gold medallist Jim Abbott.
"These twelve individuals have demonstrated creativity, determination, ingenuity, leadership, success and tenacity. They embody what people with disabilities can accomplish," said Senator Dole.
Professor Crock, meanwhile, was recently named in the 2014 edition of The Best Lawyers in Australia for her work in immigration law.
The publication is the result of a detailed survey of leading lawyers, which confidentially evaluates their professional peers.
