Both scholarships were established in 2008 by donations received from Mr Larry Kwok and the Kwok Family Trust.

These scholarships aim to promote relations and understanding between Australia and China, to strengthen the University of Sydney profile and brand in China, to expand the existing links between the University of Sydney and Peking University and to develop and promote a model of support that will serve as a positive example to other alumni in Hong Kong, China and South East Asia in general.

The scholarship is open to full-time undergraduate students who are Australian citizens or permanent residents willing and able to undertake full-time study for a semester at Peking University.

The scholarships shall be open to students of any discipline/subject which is provided by both participating institutions, but priority will be given to students of either or both of the faculties of Law and of Economics and Business for the first three years of the scheme.
