Associate Professor Anne Twomey says the impact of the High Court's judgement in favour of the Federal Government's $900 tax bonus will remain unclear until the full judgement's published. Speaking to the Sydney Morning Herald, Associate Professor Twomey says the result could mean a "...a massive expansion in the Commonwealth's legislative power." She argues that if the bonus is upheld on one ground and struck down on others, "...then the Commonwealth might find itself with a pyrrhic victory and obliged to deal with states more often." |
