Children and Family Law

Professor Patrick Parkinson AM will deliver this new intensive postgraduate unit of study during May 2010.

Children and Family Law examines issues regarding parenting after separation and analyses other aspects of children's wellbeing that arise in family law disputes.

Topics covered include:

  • Shared parenting
  • Parental relocation
  • Child sexual abuse
  • Family violence
  • Interim parenting orders
  • Children's participation in family law decision-making
  • Parenting disputes in high-conflict families
  • Consent to medical treatment
  • Parenting after seperation

The unit is available to study through the following Sydney Law School degree programmes:

Candidates can also enrol in the subject on a Legal Professional Development (LPD), Single Unit Enrolment or Cross-Institutional basis.
