Overhaul to sideline tax agents
23 April 2010
Professor Michael Dirkis comments on reports that the Henry Review of Taxation will slash the number of people using tax agents to do tax returns.
In an article in The Australian, Professor Dirkis says the reform should prevent the need for people on welfare benefits to deal with the tax office and Centrelink.
Professor Dirkis also commented on the Henry Review on Radio 2UE News:
"We're hoping that it will set a blueprint for the next 20 years.
"Given the financial crisis and money shortfalls, I don't think we will see a lot of immediate gain out of it."
