Domestic violence and the Law

The work of Professor Julie Stubbs was acknowledged recently by the State Government in the announcement of the Coroners Amendment (Domestic Violence Death Review Team) Bill 2010.

The bill establishes a new review mechanisms for domestic violence related homicides, andProfessor Stubbswas a member of the advisory body that wrote the report and advised on the bill.

Unfortunately Professor Stubbs will be leaving the Sydney Law School to join the University of New South Wales.

The Dean, Professor Gillian Triggs said in her announcement that "Professor Julie Stubbs has made an outstanding contribution to this Law School and to the University of Sydney both in her excellent research, research supervision and teaching and as a Pro Dean from 2004-5.

"While we will miss her, I am sure you all join me in congratulating Julie on her new position. We wish her every success in the future."
