The Hon Michael Kirby AC CMG wins prestigious US legal prize

Sydney Law School extends its congratulations to its eminent alumnus, The Hon Michael Kirby AC, CMG, BA (1959), LLB (1962), BEc (1966), LLM (1967), LLD (1996) on becoming the first Australian to win the Gruber Justice Prize.

The Gruber Prize for Justice is one of five international prizes awarded by the Peter and Patricia Gruber Foundation.

Recipients are selected by a distinguished panel of international legal experts from nominations that are received from around the world.

He shares the prize with Professor John Dugard of South Africa, who helped draft human rights protections in the post-apartheid South African Constitution, and the Indian Law Resource Centre in the US, which champions indigenous people interests.
