Professor Michael Dirkis comments on speculation that Chris Bowen will replace Lindsay Tanner as Finance Minister if the Labor Government is returned to power at the next federal election.

In an interview with The Australian, Professor Dirkis, who dealt with him as the research director for the Tax Institute, rates Mr Bowen one of the two best assistant treasurers of the past decade.

"The two that came across as being most across their jurisdiction in a full sense were Mal Brough and Chris Bowen," he says.
