The many letters of the law

7 September 2010

The Dean, Professor Gillian Triggs says there's an increasing requirement for professionals in many careers to have a deeper understanding of law and legal issues in the contemporary global and economic environment.

In an article published in the Sydney Morning Herald, Professor Triggs adds "For many people, it's about upgrading and developing their skills, adding more to their toolbox.

"They may be working as an accountant but need to understand more about taxation law, for instance."

The article states that Sydney Law School has the largest postgraduate law program in New South Wales.

"The challenge is to bring all the students up to a postgraduate level in law," Professor Triggs asserts.
