Joining the Coalition to pass policies will backfire

Associate Professor Anne Twomey writes on the issues associated with the Gillard Minority Government in an opinion piece for the Sydney Morning Herald.

The Greens and the independents have apparently told the Opposition Leader, Tony Abbott, that he can participate in government from opposition, according to yesterday's Herald, ''saying they would pass any policies on which they agreed, including paid parental leave, whether Labor liked it or not''.

Is this wise? And is it possible?
