Professor Gillian Triggs appointed to Challis Chair of International Law

Congratulations to the Dean, Professor Gillian Triggs on her appointment to the Challis Chair of International Law.
"The Challis Chair in International Law is a highly prestigious appointment within the University and the broader international law community" said the Pro-Dean, Professor Lee Burns.
"It is clear recognition of Professor Triggs' outstanding scholarship and her leadership in the field of international law."
Professor Triggs has published extensively on the World Trade Organization, Energy and Resources Law, Law of the Sea, Territorial Sovereignty, Jurisdiction and Immunity, International Criminal Law, International Environmental Law and Human Rights.
Professor Gillian Triggs became Dean of the Sydney Law School in 2007.
Prior to her appointment, she was Director of the British Institute of International & Comparative Law (BIICL) and Professor in Law at the University of Melbourne.
During her term as Dean, Professor Triggs has overseen the Sydney Law School's historic move from Sydney's Central Business District (CBD) to the University's main campus as well as the introduction of the Sydney Juris Doctor (JD), which commences from 2011.
In addition, Sydney Law School recently ranked first in Australia and fourth internationally, according to the Social Science Research Network (SSRN).
