Alumni Simon Fitzpatrick (BA 1998, LLB 2000) and Robert Yezerski (BA 2002, LLB 2004) recently delivered a special presentation to students on their experiences as New York Attorneys.

The presentation took place on Wednesday, 31 March 2011 in the Law School Foyer with Professor Greg Tolhurst and Professor Helen Irving providing the welcome and thank you respectively.

The Alumni presented together and then answered the many questions both domestic and international LLB and JD students had.

Simon was a University of Sydney Medallist for Law and moved to the US in August 2001 to do the LLM at Harvard.

He then took the New York Bar exam and went to work at a law firm in Manhattan doing intellectual property litigation.

Simon worked in New York for eight years, most recently at Ropes & Gray, on large patent and trade secret cases for pharmaceutical and medical device companies.

In mid-2010, he moved home to Sydney to start at the Bar and he now works at Seven Wentworth Chambers.

Robert was also a University of Sydney Medallist for Law and undertook the NYU exchange in his final year of his LLB degree in 2003.

He returned to the US in August 2005 to do the LLM at Harvard.

After taking the New York Bar exam, Rob moved to Manhattan to join the competition law group at Weil, Gotshal & Manges.

There he spent four years doing litigation, merger clearances and government investigation work for US and overseas companies, particularly in the publishing, electronics and pharmaceutical sectors.

In mid-2010, Rob moved home to Sydney to start at the Bar and now works at Banco Chambers.
