Final year Arts/Law student, Young Joo Ko talks about her experiences working as an intern for the Ministry of Unification in Seoul, Korea.

"I completed an internship program at the Ministry of Unification, Seoul, Korea.

"Korea is the only country in the world that has a Ministry of Unification which deals all the issues arising from the relationship between South and North Korea.

"Its ultimate goal is to unite the two Koreas peacefully.

"I was selected by the Ministry of Unification in Seoul, Korea to work as a summer intern for 4 weeks.

"I was one of only two students from Australia (with the otherstudent from ANU) out of 35 student interns.

"I was allocated to the PR Division of the Policy Office.

"The internship also included one day in each week of Unification Education and another day to visit places like Hanaone, where people escaed from North Korea stay and learn about South Korea when they first arrive.

"At the end of the internship program, I was to give an individual presentation for my division and a group presentation for the Ministry.

"I achieved first place in the SNS marketing competition during the program and was awarded a Minister's award.

I hope my story can inspire other international students who are interested in working in the public sector for their country."
