New joint initiative between Sydney Law School and the Rule of Law Institute of Australia

3 November 2011

In recognition of the importance of the Rule of Law in our society, the Rule of Law Institute of Australia and the Faculty of Law of the University of Sydney are pleased to announce the Rule of Law Lecture Series designed to ensure that students in the Faculty gain a sound understanding of the Rule of Law, its history and its contemporary relevance.

The Honourable Kevin Lindgren QC, a retired Federal Court Judge, first appointed Adjunct Professor at the Law School in 2008, will deliver the first series of four lectures commencing in 2012.

In making the announcement, the President of the Institute, Mr Robin Speed, and the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Professor Gillian Triggs, expressed the hope that the lectures would be the first of several joint initiatives, such as the delivery of a postgraduate and undergraduate program and initiatives on the Rule of Law.
