Professor Ben Saul awarded ARC Future Fellowship

15 November 2011

Sydney Law School is also pleased to announce that Professor Ben Saul has been awarded a prestigious ARC Future Fellowship.

Future Fellowships promote research in areas of critical national importance by giving outstanding researchers incentives to conduct their research in Australia.

The aim of Future Fellowships is to attract and retain the best and brightest mid-career researchers.

Only 203 Fellowships were awarded across Australia witha total of 6 awarded in Law.

Professor Saul's Fellowship will provide four years of funding to allow him to concentrate on his project, The Emerging International Law of Terrorism ($692,476), which will examine how international law responds to terrorism and critique the legitimacy and effectiveness of those responses.

The project will improve the international community's knowledge about the effective regulation of terrorist violence within a rule of law framework, and identify opportunities for improving international responses.
