Michael Kirby speaks at Sydney Connections Breakfast

15 May 2012

The Hon Michael Kirby AC CMG (BA '59, LLB '62, BEc '66, LLD '96, LLM '67), retired judge, academic and former Justice of the High Court of Australia, will speak at this special breakfast event on the topic Michael Kirby, Roddy Meagher, and the challenge of friendship.

Damien Freeman's biography of Roddy Meagher, Roddy's Folly: R P Meagher QC- art lover and lawyer (Connor Court Publishing), was launched by the Federal Opposition Leader, Tony Abbott, at Sydney Law School's St James Campus on 23 April.

The book also contains 16 cartoon drawings by Michael Kirby, which were passed between the judges when they were sitting on the NSW Court of Appeal. The cartoons reveal a personal and intriguing relationship between the two men. Join us as Damien Freeman introduces Michael Kirby, and asks him to speak publicly, and for the very first time, about his cartoons and his friendship with Roddy Meagher.

Copies of the book, as well as Kirby's own autobiography, will be on sale at the event, and the authors will be available for book signing.
