1 - 4 September 2009

The XIX World Congress offers Australian lawyers a rare opportunity to advance their skills in the vital area of workplace law and to examine contemporary themes and developments in labour law within the domestic and international context. The themes for the 2009 World Congress include: regulatory frameworks and law enforcement in new forms of employment; workers' representation and social dialogue at the workplace level; and emerging patterns of social protection in light of structural changes (ageing population, changing family structures, immigration, budgetary constraints, political and ideological realignments). In addition to discussion sessions, workshops run on each day of the conference will examine a variety of dimensions of labour law including the scope of labour law, enforcement, regulation, work and human freedom, labour law participation and bargaining systems.
