HCF Foundation EOI for research funding

15 July 2013

This funding is directed for research that will improve the quality of health care in Australia.

Projects aimed at extending or implementing evidence-based medicine for reducing planned or unwarranted variation in hospital care should focus on the following areas:
  • decision aids for patients and clinicians;
  • clinical appropriateness for high volume or high cost procedures that result in significant financial burden to the health system;
  • strategies to reduce the use of practices with limited evidence-based benefits;
  • understanding, and influencing if appropriate, variation on transfer rates to other health services such as rehabilitation or hospital in the home type care or how devices, procedures, diagnosis tests and other resources are selected by clinicians.

Projects that involve collaborations between several disciplines, and especially practising clinicians and the private sector, are of particular interest.

Amount: In previous years the grant amounts have varied between AU$50,000 and AU$1,400,000.
Closing date: 30 July 2013
