Animal ethics applications move online

23 October 2013

The animal ethics research application process has moved to an online system within IRMA. The system went live on Tuesday 8 October.

All submissions for animal ethics approval now take place online, the previous paper-based system is no longer in operation. This includes new applications, modifications of existing approved projects, as well as annual or completion reports.
What is IRMA?
IRMA is the University's research management platform, which provides a central database for information about research projects, such as funding, human and animal ethics applications, modifications and annual reports, publications and researcher profiles. It is already used for human ethics applications.

Benefits for researchers
  • Providing a central record of all your ethics approvals and notices, which assists you in tracking individual projects
  • No need to provide 15 copies of applications
  • Online approval, so no need to collect signatures
  • Access anywhere with internet
