Three key NHMRC grant schemes have opened applications this week: Research Fellowships, Project Grants, and Centres of Research Excellence.

The purpose of the NHMRC Research Fellowships scheme is to provide opportunities for outstanding biomedical and health researchers with proven track records to undertake research that is both of major importance in its field and of significant benefit to Australian health and medical research. Internal closing date: 15 January 2014

The Project Grant scheme aims to fund research leading to improved health of all Australians. The Scheme is the NHMRC's main avenue of support for individuals and small teams of researchers undertaking biomedical, clinical, public health or health services research in Australian universities, medical schools, hospitals or other research institutions. Internal closing date: 14 February 2014.

The NHMRC's Centres of Research Excellence will provide support for teams of researchers to pursue collaborative research and develop research capacity in clinical, public health and health services. Internal closing date: 5 February 2014.
