Postdoc Fellowships: remember your sponsor

If you are intending to apply for a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship make sure you get the approval of a sponsor before you contact the Head of School.
Applications for the Sydney Postdoctoral Fellowships are open now. Make sure you make the most of your application by following the application process steps detailed in the guidelines.
You must obtain the support and approval of a sponsor before you contact the Head of School/Department.
A sponsor is a current University of Sydney academic working in your field or a field closely aligned with yours, who will support your application.
You should find a University of Sydney academic who is field-appropriate for you and contact them directly. Please ask that person to discuss your proposal with the Head of School and provide you with a brief written endorsement.
The Postdoctoral Research Fellowships support research excellence in full-time research undertaken in any Department or School at the University. They are intended to support early career researchers.
On offer is a starting salary of A$83,998 per annum (as at 1 January 2012) and a total research support grant of A$25,000. The duration of the Fellowship is three years.
To be eligible you must have a PhD awarded no earlier than 1 January 2006 and no later than 31 December 2010.
