Are you a commencing international postgraduate research student?
Do you have an outstanding track record of academic achievement? Can you demonstrate high quality research potential?
Founded in 1850, the University of Sydney is Australia's first university. We continue to build on our position as one of Australia's leading universities and as an international leader in higher education and research. As an institution committed to research excellence, we have launched an exciting new international research scholarship - University of Sydney World Scholars. The University of Sydney World Scholars are highly prestigious, competitive awards designed to recognise and reward outstanding international research students from across the globe. The World Scholars program will provide expanded study opportunities for the best and brightest international research students, build sustainable research relationships with partner institutions overseas, and promote international student diversity.
From 2009, up to 20 new full tuition fee PhD scholarships will be available per year for international students. Scholarships will cover the full cost of tuition fees for three years. A travel contribution of up to $2000 will also be provided to scholarship holders towards a return international air fare. A University of Sydney World Scholar may negotiate a period of research in their home country on a project of national priority, as part of their candidature at the University of Sydney.
