Sleek Geeks go live with '50 Shades of Geek'

1 August 2012

It's a National Science Week launch like no other as Dr Karl Kruszelnicki and Adam Spencer - Australia's favourite Sleek Geeks - put the band back together in a spectacular stage show celebrating science, called '50 Shades of Geek', on 13 August 2012 at the Sydney Town Hall. This massive night of science and comedy will have you laughing so much you won't realise how much you've learnt.

The Sleek Geeks will entertain the crowd with funny facts, startling science and amusing anecdotes in their high energy science show, presented by the University of Sydney and the City of Sydney to open National Science Week in NSW with a bang.

With characteristic wit, Dr Karl Kruszelnicki and Adam Spencer will explore a plethora of science topics from the minute to the astronomical in this free extravaganza open to the public.

"National Science Week is a time to celebrate the fascinating facts and research revelations that science throws at us every day," said Dr Karl, the Julius Sumner Miller Fellow in the School of Physics at the University of Sydney.

"We're really looking forward to sharing the world of science with everyone in this one-off comedy show - as I like to say, you'll learn something without even noticing!" said Dr Karl.

If you're going to court, when's the best time to have your case heard and get a more favourable outcome from the judge? And, in a Super Nerd Alert fest, find out how to use Pi to pay your restaurant bill.

Hear all about Asteroids 18412 Kruszelnicki and 18413 Spencer, which were named in honour of Dr Karl and Adam earlier this year. These asteroids were discovered at the Siding Spring Observatory in Coonabarabran, NSW, in 1993 - it only took the committee 19 years to make the decision to name them after Karl and Adam.

The Sleek Geeks will drag you by the ear through their fast-talking, roller-coaster ride of fabulous facts and sensational stories as they coerce comedy into science with their usual sledge-hammer subtlety.

Celebrate National Science Week like never before with the Sleek Geeks. You'll see science in a totally new light!
