Retooling: Techniques for an Uncertain World

21 June 2013

On 11 June, SCIL collaborated with Sydney Ideas and CAPLUS on a wonderful public lecture and discussion featuring Annelise Riles, Jack G. Clarke Professor of Far East Legal Studies and Professor of Anthropology at Cornell University. Reflecting on prevailing ambivalence about experts and expertise, Professor Riles explored whether techniques that lawyers routinely use to deal with uncertainty might be 'retooled' for purposes of responding professionally, politically and ethically to the demands of our political moment.
