Congratulations to our Jessup Team on its achievements in this year's National Competition.

Associate Professor Tim Stephens filed this report from Canberra:

"Our 2012 Jessup team performed magnificently in Canberra last week and over the weekend.

"Louise Coleman, Katherine Connolly, Giselle Kenny, Alistair Oakes and Daniel Ward progressed through the preliminary rounds after four tough moots.

"After defeating Murdoch University in the Quarter Finals they faced the University of Queensland in the Semi Finals.

"In a very close moot Queensland prevailed (and went on to win the Jessup Cup in the High Court yesterday).

"At the Awards Dinner our team picked up several prizes.

"Louise Coleman was named best speaker and Katherine Connolly fourth-best speaker.

"Also at the Awards Dinner the 2011 team were formally recognised for winning the world championship last year.

"I extend my particular thanks to the team coach Adriana Edmeades for all her efforts in preparing the 2012 team so well.

"Can I also thank the Dean, Professor Gillian Triggs who travelled to Canberra to support our team and judge in the competition.

"Associate Vivienne Bath, Dr Emily Crawford and our moot master Peter Rose also very generously volunteered their time to judge.

"It was tremendous having such a strong Sydney contingent on hand."
