Message from the Vice-Chancellor: Staff survey

We are a University community of almost 7000 staff members. Your thoughts about working here are important, and we want to make sure you have the opportunity to have your views heard.

We are therefore launching a new staff survey that will help us to recognise the University's strengths and identify how we can be better in areas such as job satisfaction, collaboration, career opportunities, equity, work management, leadership and innovation.

The University has engaged the Voice Project to help us run the survey. The Voice Project is affiliated to Macquarie University, and has developed a survey specifically designed for the higher education sector. By working with them, we will be able to compare how the University of Sydney is tracking over time against other universities, including the Group of Eight.

Starting on Monday 26 November, we will survey one quarter of all continuing or fixed-term staff every six months, until all staff have had an opportunity to participate. Each time we run the survey, a new cross-section of staff will be invited by email to take part, and a summary of results will be published in Staff News.

The survey is being conducted in a confidential manner and presented in a way that will prevent any individual respondents from being identified. You can find out more about the survey and the Voice Project on the Human Resources website.

This is the first time the University has conducted an initiative like this and your support will be invaluable in making it worthwhile. Thank you in advance for your participation.
