Charles Perkins Centre building nears completion

6 December 2013

Work on the Charles Perkins Centre building is progressing ahead of time and on budget, in preparation for opening in early 2014.

"The close cooperative work between faculty, CIS and ICT staff from across the University has been fantastic," said Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) Professor Jill Trewhella.

"Good collaboration has kept the project on track, achieving all critical milestones in the project to date and standing us in good stead for opening next year."

With the external building work completing at the end of this year and the commencement of teaching of more than 80 subjects in Semester One, 2014, the internal spaces are now becoming the focus of site activity. Internal services are being installed and fit-out works are continuing with laboratory and teaching furniture being installed in the wet and dry lab spaces.

In preparation for the relocation of research staff to the building next year, a town hall meeting was hosted by Charles Perkins Centre Academic Director Professor Stephen Simpson and Laboratory Services Manager (Research) Dr Ian Garthwaite in November. Presentations from laboratory managers, HR and ICT coordinators outlined what staff can expect as they transition to their new working environment.
