Successful Info Day

9 January 2014

While most University staff were taking a well-earned break over Christmas, the Student Recruitment and Admissions Group, as well as some key representatives across the University, were hard at work ensuring our university continues to attract the best students.

Gaylene Yuen (pictured above), Events and Outreach Manager, had more reason than most to hope for a busy Info Day, as she manages the Events and Outreach team who organise and deliver the event.

"It's been a big year for the whole Student Recruitment team as we've undergone a change in the way we work. Our team structure has changed, we're in a new office space and it's a really exciting time," Gaylene reported.

"Info Day is such a great opportunity for us to help potential students make their decision, it's important that everything runs smoothly."

The event offered potential students the chance to seek information and advice, tour the campus, and attend mini-lectures on a variety of subjects before finalising their UAC preferences for the main-round offers. It also involved 63 Student Ambassadors, giving peer-to-peer advice on life at the University.

"It takes a huge amount of organisation, and of course time, energy and expertise from staff too, so a successful event is really a success for the whole University. Seeing everything come together and run smoothly is one of the best parts of my job," says Gaylene.

It looks set to be another busy year for Gaylene, with the announcement that she has been awarded a Professional Staff Travelling Scholarship.
