Win tickets to TEDxSydney

3 April 2014

The University is a proud supporter of some of Sydney's biggest and most popular cultural events and this year we continue our commitment to TEDxSydney. We're delighted to be partnering with the event for the third year in a row, and this year were giving staff the opportunity to win tickets to the sold out TEDxSydney events on Saturday 26 April at Sydney Opera House.

The pass it on Instagramcompetition asks you to pass on your greatest lesson to share. Staff who enter will be in with a chance of winning one of 6 double passes to attend on the day.

Staff members Dr Clio Cresswell and Professor Richard Benati are presenting at this years event.

"It's really exciting to be involved in a project like TEDxSydney, to have the opportunity to present our collaborative research, which crosses institutions and disciplines, to a new audience and also soak up the atmosphere of learning there," says Richard.

"The research I'm presenting, which looks at tracking plastic waste and the tension between degradability and recyclability, has already generated a lot of public interest and will hopefully raise more questions from the audience too. And, of course, I'm also looking forward to being inspired by the other speakers myself."

Dr Bill Pritchard spoke at last years eventand agrees that it is quite an experience.

"TEDxSydney is brain food of the highest order. The diversity of speakers takes you out of the world you inhabit, and leads you to think about questions you never knew existed. The combination of talks, entertainment and conversation makes it a day to remember."

Staff entries will be competing to win one double pass (valued at $500) to the main arena at TEDxSydney, and five double passes (valued at $200 each) to the Studio, a separate space at the event where the audience watch the talks in real time via a big screen and have access to a range of unique content. The competition closes on 16 April.
